The E9X M3 seems well represented, I can think of at least 5 people with one myself included, but the C63 AMG seems to be lacking with representation. I’m just curious.

I know a guy with one, but he is a money enthusiast not a car enthusiast. I’ve driven it, its neat, sounds amazing, super fast. I’ll take the more focused M3 every time.

They had one at the BMW dealer by me in March for like 23k, I was seriously considering trading in the one and getting it. Thankfully I decided it wasn’t a good idea and didn’t get it, which turned out to be the correct decision as I got laid off 2 weeks later. If I can afford to have the M3 and a C63, I might just do it.

IDRIVEAC63AMG had one, along with a whole bunch of other rare stuff. A Reventon, a Gold plated Bugatti, a 1-off 7L AMG v12 SL, an F1 car, 14 houses in 15 different countries (one sits half on one border and half on the other!) along with a hypersonic private jet capable of traveling to mars and back on one tank of fuel.

He never SR20d any of this stuff, but I assume that’s because he was too busy working hard to pay for all of it.

Yea it’s a sledgehammer where the M3 is a scalpel. The M3 is fast but doesn’t feel nearly as fast as it is. The C63 is the opposite, it is fast and feels like a goddamnrocketship. I could see owning both especially if the M3 sees track duty, but I can also see the C63 being even worse on maintenance/wear items.

I was seriously thinking about it until I started looking at wear items like brakes and the fact that it got 12 mpg, and I decided that one 400hp German super saloon was enough.

I averaged 2k per year maintenance/wear on an E46 M3 when it was daily driven. I didn’t replace brakes during my tenure with the E90 but I know that they are silly expensive, and I did go through $1400 in tires in 18 months. I can only imagine any AMG cedes to rip though more expensive parts, faster.

I know a guy in Portland that owned one, but he moved to Amsterdam a couple of years ago as his wife got a big promotion to manage Europe for Nike. I’m not sure what happened to his car, he may have put it in storage.

I drive one. Just has 3.7 liters less displacement, 2 less cylinders, and a bunch less “6.3" badges than the run-of-the-mill C63s.

I do know a couple of people who have them, none of them are on Oppo though...

Rarer and a bit more mature car than I think the standard Oppo member.

I would pick it over the M3 but alas I’m poor.

I looked at one but this was my experience. For German muscle I just decided to get an S55 and be even more ridiculous (bigger, louder, even if not quite as fast). Fun but not as fun as the M3s I’ve driven or even the E39 M5 I had.

Well, the first time was because a friend was invited to an awesome, invite-only AMG driving event and brought me along. I drove every 6.2 liter AMG and got to sit in the Black Series and an SLR Roadster.

The second time was because I was waiting at Carmax for an appraisal on my old Audi (I sold it to buy a Golf R)...the rep asked if I wanted to test drive anything since it was going to be like an hour and a half wait.

So I test drove an E60 545i 6MT, ‘07 Shelby GT500 and the C63.

Oh that’s pretty cool, I test drove one cause I could. That engine is awesome, it delivers it’s power in a completely different way then the M3. The M is a finely tuned instrument, the AMG is a hammer.

I felt that the M3 was just more rounded. Superior chassis and suspension, much nicer and more comfortable interior. Much better as a daily or on the highway IMO.

I love the M3, came close to pulling the trigger on the E90, but I have the means to get a 997 now.

A friend of mine IRL has a white 507 coupe. He told me he signed up on oppo a few weeks ago but I haven’t seen him around. He used to have a 211 E63. Still has a 211 E500 4matic wagon, and a 210 E430.
